The Kali Gandaki river basin, the junction of the Indian plain and Tibetan highland, includes wide varieties of races, religions, cultures, climate, and topography hence creating an interesting trekking course. The final destination is the holy temple of Muktinath, a further day's walk beyond Jomsom. Muktinath is a famous pilgrimage site for Buddhist and Hindus where you will see Tibetan traders as well as Sadhus from far south of India. You will gain the maximum attitude 3710m at this place yet altitude sickness is not a problem because of gradual ascent. From Jomsom you can make your return trip by flight or you will have to retrace your steps down the Kali Gandaki Valley.

A sunrise over the Machhapuchre from Poon Hill becomes the most vivid memory of the area.

Royal Trek: - is a quite easy, short trek that starts near Pokhara and offers good mountain views. It gained this name because Prince Charles of Wales and an entourage of 90 guests, camp followers and staff trekked in this route. The trek is not a so popular one, so you will meet few other trekkers.

Panchase Trek: - This is short and easy trek like Royal and Siklis trek, offering dramatic view of the mountain ranges. This trek has become popular recently. It is the right route for the starter.

Siklis Trek: - This is short and easy trek especially recommended for old people and children. Siklish looks north on Annapurna IV, and east to Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. A 2 to 3 days trek to Siklis continues west to the Piper Pheasant Reserve.

Dhaulagiri Trek: - This is a long course beginning from Pokhara which allows one to fully take pleasure of this simple lifestyle and scenery of Nepal from the cultivated fields up to Beni to the mountain villages that spreads in the Myagdi Khola drainage area. Once you enter the Myagdi Khola which penetrates deep into the Dhaulagiri Himal allows a panoramic view of the entire Dhaulagiri massif. Annapurna Circuit Trek: - Trek around Annapurna massif is one of the finest in the Himalayas. The change of scenery at the limits of Thorung pass and the remains around the sacred area of Muktinath are also extremely interesting. Trekking north we acclimatize in the important trading village of Manang (3351m), before crossing the Thorung pass. Further south, the contrast of the Nepali Himalayas become even more apparent, as high wind swept passes are replaced by forest or mandarins and banana grooves. Finally, we trek out the gorges and look back to the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri before traversing the forest ridges down to Pokhara.

Langtang Region: - Langtang is one of the nearest trekking destination from the capital city. In the upper part of the Langtang Valley, there are snow bridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda is a sacred pilgrimage site for the Hindus, is dotted with lakes atop the mountain, offering a quiet respite. Langtang has over 70 glaciers of different sizes. This region is rich for high altitude lakes. The lakes are Gosaikunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda. This region also comprises unexplored Langtang National Park and Tamang Heritage Trail. This trip also encompasses Helambu, enriched by Sherpa culture and beautiful landscape.

Kanchenjunga: - Kanchanjunga (8,586) is the third highest mountain in the world. This trek leads you to spectacular high altitude scenery on the north side of Kanchanjunga. Kanchenjunga in far-eastern Nepal borders India in the east and Tibetan Autonomous Region of China in the North. Mountaineering and trekking along pilgrimage trail is the main attraction of this region.

Makalu Region: - The trek to Makalu Base Camp visits one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. This is a long, arduous, trekking course.
Beware of altitude sickness, as there are many ups and downs; more over the pre-monsoon so you must be prepared for this to be the most difficult segment of your trek.

Manaslu Region: - Manaslu is a mesmerizing course popular as the three mountain peaks. This trek route was officially opened to tourists in 1991 and is tougher than any other treks in Nepal. The trek starts from historic place Gorkha, crossing the snow-covered Larkya La (5135m), the highest point of the route and the most dramatic Himalayan pass crossing, descends to the Marsyangdi River, making a semi-circular tour around the three peaks of Manaslu. The Larkya La pass is not so tough, but it usually is impassable after November. So it is recommended to do this trek immediately after the monsoon- in the second week of September and October. The trail is rough and steep and it often hangs on a bluff high above the river. Remote and out of reach of rescue facilities or bailing opportunities, the route is not recommendable if you have the tendency towards acrophobia. You must be in good health and have extra days for rest during the trek. The trek is geographically superb and culturally fascinating with very strong Tibetan influence.

Dolpo Region: - The best known of the many isolated high Himalayan valleys across Northern Nepal, Dolpo preserves one of the last remnants of traditional Tibetan culture. Legend says it's a one of the "hidden valley" created by Guru Rinpoche as refuge for devout Buddhists in troubled times. Surrounded by Nepal Mountain including the Dhaulagiri to the south-east and cut off by high passes closed by snow half the year, Dolpo's easiest access is from Tibet, where its people emigrated from perhaps 1000 years ago.
Upper Dolpo shelters about 5000 people, whose lives revolve around Buddhism, barley and yaks; their villages are among the highest settlement on earth. A large portion of Dolpo has been set aside as Shey Phoksundo National Park, at 3555 square km. Nepal's largest. Meant to preserve a complete example of the trans-Himalayan ecosystem, the park shelters blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, leopards, wolves, the exclusive snow leopard etc.
Dolpo is the best known of Nepal's forbidden northern border regions. The 1989 announcement that the government was opening the region to group treks caused a flurry of excitement. To reach here you must trek through registered company, which will obtain permits.
